Executive Housekeeper

Job Description

The position of Executive Housekeeper is a key leadership role within the housekeeping department, responsible for ensuring the cleanliness, comfort, and overall guest satisfaction of the resort’s accommodations. As an Executive Housekeeper, you will oversee a team of housekeeping staff, manage daily operations, and maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the resort. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to effectively communicate and coordinate with other departments. Responsibilities may include staff management, inventory control, quality assurance, and maintaining a safe working environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Recruit, train, and supervise housekeeping staff, ensuring proper staffing levels for efficient operations. Provide guidance, coaching, and performance feedback to maintain a motivated and productive team.
  • Oversee the daily housekeeping operations, including room cleaning, public area maintenance, laundry, and other related tasks. Ensure that all areas are cleaned and maintained to the highest standards.
  • Implement and enforce quality control measures to maintain cleanliness and presentation standards in guest rooms and public areas. Conduct regular inspections to identify areas for improvement and take corrective actions.
  • Monitor and manage housekeeping supplies and equipment, ensuring adequate stock levels and efficient use. Coordinate with suppliers and purchasing department for timely procurement.
  • Assist in the preparation and management of the housekeeping department budget. Control costs, monitor expenses, and implement strategies to optimize resources and minimize waste.
  • Prioritize guest satisfaction by addressing their concerns promptly and effectively. Collaborate with other departments to ensure a seamless guest experience.
  • Maintain a safe working environment for the housekeeping team and guests by adhering to safety protocols, conducting regular training, and promptly addressing any safety or security issues.
  • Foster effective communication and collaboration with other departments, such as front office, maintenance, and food and beverage, to ensure smooth operations and guest satisfaction.
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for housekeeping activities, ensuring consistency, efficiency, and compliance with brand standards and regulations.
  • Promote and implement sustainable practices within the housekeeping department, such as energy conservation, waste management, and eco-friendly cleaning products.

Qualifications 

  • A degree or diploma in Hospitality Management or a related field is preferred. Relevant certifications and training in housekeeping management are advantageous.
  • Significant experience in housekeeping management, preferably in a resort or high-end hospitality establishment. Experience in managing a large team is highly desirable.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, including the ability to motivate and develop a diverse team, delegate tasks effectively, and resolve conflicts.
  • Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and ensure smooth operations within the housekeeping department.
  • Meticulous attention to detail in maintaining cleanliness standards and conducting inspections to identify areas for improvement.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interact with staff, guests, and other departments. Fluency in multiple languages is an advantage.
  • Proactive problem-solving abilities to address challenges and implement effective solutions in a dynamic hospitality environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of housekeeping procedures, cleaning techniques, and industry best practices. Familiarity with relevant software and technology is beneficial.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, and adapt to changing priorities and demands.
  • Uphold the highest ethical standards and integrity in all interactions and decision-making.
